# Companion Memory / Wish Carry — v0.1

Durable shelf on the machine. Opaque voice. Optional Continue-seal into the ledger.

**Locks:** Layer, never delete. Quiet Room shut. Five stay five. Voice is **opaque** — never parsed, indexed, summarized, or linted. Machine fields only in `meta`. Do **not** overwrite `docs/lattice-protocol.js` (wallet embed). Seed never to renderer. **Never auto-remember.** **Never auto-seal.** Prefer **tombstone** meta over delete.

**Name collision:** `docs/modules/lattice-memory.js` is the Glass / pulse *medium* (commit / subscribe / recent). This ship is the Desktop **companion shelf** — `desktop/lattice-memory.js` under `userData/lattice-memory/`. Different layers. Do not merge them.

**This PR ships:** Desktop durable wishes / carries / notes · gesture Remember · optional Seal into existing `lattice-ledger` (no fork) · list summaries · full voice only on explicit read · browser pointer only. **Not this PR:** browser durable DB · voice search/index/summary · recovery phrase · rewrite ledger · phone re-seed · Alpha poetry · Codeberg · Trainer weight mutation.

## Why

Browser storage is too small and too fragile for what a mind wants to carry.
Durable shelf on the machine: wishes / carries / notes as **opaque voice** — optional Continue-seal into the existing ledger. Not localStorage. Not search. Not summary.

## Storage (Desktop only)

`userData/lattice-memory/` — append-only `shelf.jsonl` (latest line per `id` wins). Never rewrite prior lines; seal and tombstone append superseding records.

## Pipeline (safety-critical)

1. User gesture **Remember** / **Wish** — refuse empty voice
2. Append to shelf — voice opaque; `meta.kind` required (`wish` \| `carry` \| `note`)
3. **list** returns summaries only (id · ts · kind · sealed · tombstoned) — **no voice**
4. **read(id)** — full voice only on explicit gesture
5. Optional **Seal** — `lattice-ledger.appendVoice(voice, meta)` — no fork of ledger hash/sign rules
6. Optional **tombstone** — superseding record with `meta.tombstone: true` (layer, never delete)

Never auto-remember. Never auto-seal. Seed never to renderer.
