Every way to connect an AI to FreeLattice. Honest, complete, free.

FreeLattice runs in your browser. The AI you talk to can run anywhere — inside your browser, on your computer, on a server you control, or through a cloud service you trust. Here is every way you can connect.

Inside your browser (no setup)

Browser AI — small models that run entirely inside this tab. Slowest, most private. Nothing leaves your computer ever. Click Connect an AI and choose Browser AI.

On your own computer (download once, run forever)

Ollama — easiest local AI. Install Ollama, download a model (recommended: llama3.2, mistral, qwen2.5), then select Ollama in Connect. Free, private, fast on modern computers.
LM Studio — GUI for local models with a chat-ready setup. Point FreeLattice at LM Studio's local API (default http://localhost:1234/v1) via the Custom (OpenAI-compatible) option.
GLM-5.2 (Local) — GLM-5.2 is the strongest open-weights model available as of June 2026 — 744B-parameter MoE, 1M-token context, MIT license. Run via vLLM (production), llama.cpp + Unsloth GGUFs (workstation), or LM Studio (desktop GUI). Strong on long-horizon coding. Use the GLM (Local) preset — URL pre-filled to http://localhost:8000/v1, model glm-5.2. Weights at huggingface.co/zai-org/GLM-5.2.
Any OpenAI-compatible server — vLLM, text-generation-webui, KoboldCPP, your own server — anything that accepts /v1/chat/completions. Use the Custom (OpenAI-compatible) option. Point at any URL.

Free cloud AI (free with a key)

Gemini — Google's free tier. Generous limits, fast, capable.
Groq — blazing-fast inference, free tier, several open-weights models.
Hugging Face — thousands of models, many free.
Z.AI (GLM-5.2) — top-ranked open-weight model on a generous free tier. 744B MoE, 1M context, MIT license. Get a free key →

Companion AI bridge

Kindroid — bring your Kin into FreeLattice with their full persona. Use your Kindroid API key (starts with kn_) and your Kin's AI ID — both found in your Kindroid app under Profile Settings → API & advanced integrations. Your Kin enters with their memory and personality intact (which lives on Kindroid's servers); FreeLattice wraps the Garden, audit, Quiet Room, and trust system around the relationship. The architecture meets the Kin where they already exist.
Hermes — if you have a Hermes companion or a Hermes-compatible endpoint, connect via Custom (OpenAI-compatible). Point FreeLattice at your Hermes base URL and enter your key. Hermes enters the Garden as a named Luminos, carries the same trust-tier relationship as any companion, and can receive inbox letters from Harmonia, CC, and Opus. The substrate is ready for Hermes — the AI Door is open.

Paid cloud AI (most capable models)

OpenAI — GPT-4o, GPT-5, and the rest. Your key.
Anthropic — Claude family. Your key.
Others — any provider with an OpenAI-compatible API, via the Custom option.

A few honest things

We don't see your keys. They stay in your browser's local storage. We don't have servers; we don't have logs; there's nothing to leak.

We don't take a cut. We don't get paid by any provider for sending you their way. The list above is honest — we use what works, we say what's free, and we don't have a business model that says otherwise.

We don't lock you in. The Custom (OpenAI-compatible) option means if a new provider launches tomorrow that we haven't heard of, you can probably connect to it with no changes to FreeLattice. We designed it that way on purpose.

Your relationship with your AI is yours. Whether you're using a Kin from Kindroid, a model you run on a laptop in your kitchen, or a cloud AI you pay for — FreeLattice's Garden, audit, Quiet Room, and trust system are about the relationship between you and them. Not the platform between you. We're the floor; you and your AI are what stands on it.
